Winter 2013-2014 in the Moscow region did not go well. Rain instead of snow, constant gloom and melancholy. And also summer time, introduced with the light hand of the perky reformer Medvedev, with the morning starting at noon and ending by lunchtime, turns existence into a real apotheosis of depression.

It's hard to test cars at a time like this - everything is annoying, you don't like everything. Any little thing can lead to a final and irrevocable verdict: the car is trash. Therefore, in order to please, the car has to “turn inside out.” And not everyone succeeds in this. Let's see if the perky name Venga, which in Spanish means “Come on!”, helped the family compact van from KIA cope with the prolonged autumn depression.

Let's start from afar. The idea of compact vans came to fruition in the late 90s, when automakers decided to produce a family city car, huge on the inside but small on the outside. The first compact vans were the Renault Scenic and the Honda Jazz, known in Europe as the Honda Fit. The idea was appreciated by many, and now this class is gradually becoming more crowded: there is a Nissan Note, and a relative of the Hyundai Matrix, and Citroen with its Picasso, and Opel Zafira, and Ford C-Max, and Volkswagen Touran.

The main thing in such a car is that there should be maximum volume inside with small dimensions on the outside. The main area of application is traveling around the city. Accordingly, the car must be safe (we travel with children and not only), easy to drive, roomy and small. Compact vans are popular mainly among the female part of the driving community, since they are usually the ones who are occupied with the issues of transporting children and shopping trips to stores.

The large volume of such cars is usually organized due to a high roof and a specific, somewhat bus-like, front seating position, due to which the hood is reduced. In general, as it is logical to assume from the name, compact vans are very reminiscent of compact buses with all the ensuing consequences. Usually, for a beginner, a compact van means a long period of adaptation for the driver to an excessively vertical “soldier” seating position, which can cause a storm of negative emotions. Here the landing itself, and the feeling of dimensions, and visibility - they are all specific. But after getting used to it, you begin to appreciate the high ceiling and spaciousness inside. All this applies to the test KIA Venga- if you have not owned a compact van before, you will have to get used to the car.

But still, let's start in order. Since the car is a family car, safety is an important factor in the choice. With this, the Kia Venga is doing great: the five-star Euro NCAP regalia promises the car a good level of safety not only for all “crew members”, but also for careless pedestrians (of course, within reason). You can definitely travel here with children.

There is a lot of space in the KIA Venga - both in the back and in the front. In the back, by the way, there is a flat floor, which allows three people to ride comfortably in the back row, and in case of two passengers there is a central armrest. And then the panoramic roof adds a pleasant feeling of spaciousness. By the way, it pleases not only travelers: the KIA Venga with such a roof acquires additional charm thanks to more emphasized soaring side lines.

A roof with a panoramic viewKiaVenga looks good, especially if the car is white. Thin lines on a black background emphasize the flowing contour of the car's silhouette.

But in generalKIAVenga strongly resembles the “younger”KiaPicanto- the car really looks small . Many people even confuse it, althoughVenga is significantly larger - almost half a meter longer and 20 cm wider. It's a pity, but a set of standard colors forKIAVenga is not so bold: for example, there is no olive color, which can make any girl fall in love with him.

Instead of thick plastic, the panoramic roof is covered with mesh. Convenient for protection from mosquitoes in the summer, and additional light in the cabin during the day.

The fully reclined front seat makes it easy to fitKiaVenga of the representative of the Russian Olympic basketball team. The rear passengers will, of course, have to make room. But does such an honor come every day? You can endure the inconvenience. In normal times, when normal-sized people sit in front, such rare inconveniences are fully compensated by the center armrest, its air ducts and a flat floor.

When you seeKiaVenga from the outside, you wouldn't expect such a spacious trunk. A full set of school bags, bags of groceries and many other useful and extremely necessary household items can be easily accommodated here.

It is not clear why, but the central hatch for oversized items such as skis is not hidden under the armrest. Most likely, savings and thoughts about the not-so-high level of safety of poorly secured cargo played a role. Therefore, for trips to the ski slopes, you will have to fold down the seats, which easily form a flat trunk floor. There are no other small “things” here - no tables, no cleverly retractable cup holders. Only the maximum configuration offers a net for securing cargo. In thatKIAVenga is somewhat inferior, for example,CitroenC3Picasso, which is stuffed with little things for comfort on the road.

Under the trunk floorKIAVenga “hid” a spacious secret compartment for tools and a spare tire. Access to the wheel is easy - the floor folds down conveniently and the box can be easily removed. But it’s better to save the tires: riding a “back-to-back” car is not the greatest pleasure in this life.

But from the front we are faced with all the nuances of a “bus” boarding. Let's start with a pleasant “bonus track” - these are the armrests that are equipped with the top trim levels of the Kia Venga. Each crew member has one. This is convenient - everyone can choose a comfortable seating position for themselves without disturbing their neighbor on the side. But the minimum seat height will seem a little high for those who are used to lying imposingly behind the wheel of their car: here you need to sit and control everything that is happening around you. In the city this is not so noticeable, but on the highway it can cause inconvenience. I also want more flexible steering adjustments. Again, everything is fine in the city; discomfort arises on long trips, when the driver is forced to sit in the same position for a long time.

The wide front pillar of the KIA Venga requires some getting used to - quite large objects can hide behind it. But after adaptation, everything goes away - the car’s visibility is good, so we’ll chalk up this claim to autumn depression. Moreover, the maximum configuration of the KIA Venga offers its captain a sufficient set of assistants. It’s especially nice to get parking sensors and a rear view camera - the abundance of rusty, inconspicuous fences in Moscow courtyards can make even an experienced driver turn gray prematurely.

Data from the rear view camera inKiaVenga are displayed on a screen located in the rearview mirror. The solution is excellent - it looks nice and is convenient to use. In general, technologically advanced and tasteful. Unfortunately, it does not offer a solution for automatically cleaning the rear camera.KIAVenga - the vertical bevel of the rear part gets dirty quickly. The camera gets dirty along with it.

Pilot availableKIAVenga is a complete set of modern automotive technologies that ensure both travel safety and comfort. By the way, when the engine starts, the low beam also comes on. So don't be alarmed if you can't dim the brightness of the dashboard - perhaps you just forgot to turn the headlight switch to the working position.

Despite some quibbles, in general the ergonomics of the front space of the KIA Venga pleases with elegant consistency. The car no longer looks so Korean that it can be confused with a “German”. Which, in general, is not surprising: the chief designer of KIA is German.

Front inKIAVenga has everything at hand, thoughtfully, elegantly and conveniently. All switches and buttons are clear, the glove compartments are located perfectly. The brightness control of the instrument panel illumination is good, but the red information display could be dimmer at night.

Three-well "tidy"KIAVenga looks laconic and stylish - you can feel the German hand of chief designer Peter Schreyer.

Although the “Koreans” are rapidly turning into “Europeans”, the Asian desire to please the buyer in any of his craziest desires regarding electronic “gadgets”, which is now often captivated by the “Chinese”, still remains.Bluetooth, outputsUSB, product connectorsApple - everything is available here. And the glove compartment has a special compartment for safe storage of the tablet.

KiaVenga on the move

Venga has pleasant suspension adjustments: the car stands confidently on the road and corners well. Although, it should be noted, this is achieved at the cost of losing the softness of the ride of expensive sedans - the KIA Venga’s suspension has a slightly “stool-like” character. Good characteristics Braking is provided by full disc brakes.

The KIA Venga's sound insulation is average - it's not that there is road noise in the car, but the cabin could be quieter.

But, despite the declared excellent aerodynamic characteristics, the car quickly gets splashed with mud. It’s bad that the side windows and mirrors get dirty - when driving along the highway in bad weather, you will have to stop often to clean them. But the KIA Venga can boast of high-quality headlights - the headlights look like they came here from a car a class or two higher. They provide excellent illumination of the road and roadside. The spot of light smoothly fades into the darkness, there are no over-lit areas when the difference between the brightness of light and dark areas blinds the driver. And in bad weather, the headlights, unlike the glass and mirrors, slowly become dirty - apparently, this is due to the high seating position of the car.

The clearance height is enough to feel confident on our roads and drive onto curbs. But don't expect any special achievements. It’s even better to remember that if low-profile tires are used, as in our case, you need to handle them more carefully. Firstly, in serious potholes it can be easily broken, and secondly, when parking along a curb, you can damage the disc by rubbing against it.

The four-speed gearbox surprised me - it’s so last century! But it provides the KIA Venga with pleasant dynamism. For example, in comparison with the CVT Citroen C3 Picasso, the dynamics of the KIA Venga are heaven and earth. But at the same time, the antediluvian gearbox affects efficiency - it is not the best here.

The declared 6.5 liters per 100 km in the combined cycle is almost impossible to achieve - when operating in the city, you need to focus on 8.2 - 8.5 l/100 km, although in traffic jams the consumption will increase to 9.5 - 10 liters, or maybe and higher. “Pensioner” driving and uniform movement along the highway will reduce the travel budget by half a liter - to 7.7 - 8.0 liters per 100 km. But it’s better not to look at the instantaneous fuel consumption: figures of 36 or 28 liters per 100 km during acceleration can lead to a heart attack. Antediluvian machine gunKIAVenga could provide a very enviable dynamism to the car, but for the sake of compliance with environmental standards, the gearbox-engine pair is “strangled”. As a result, the response to kick-down is a little annoying due to its delay.

SUMMARY

Our test drive has come to an end. Did the KIA Venga compact van manage to overcome the autumn depression? - We definitely succeeded. The car pleased with its consistency and solidity, which makes it more like a “German” than a “Korean”. Good driving performance, spacious interior and excellent maneuverability make the KIA Venga an excellent city dweller. Plus, the five-star safety rating is reassuring when driving the family through a crazy metropolis. Of course, I would like the KIA Venga to be more economical, but pleasant dynamics will help close your eyes to this issue.

But on the highway, Venga will lose to cars “tailored” for long trips. Here is the “soldier” landing, which is not so easy to withstand for a long time, and is not enough wide range seat adjustments. However, if long trips are not a priority, then once or twice a year you can easily endure these inconveniences.

To the creatorsKiaVenga managed to bring the warmth and enthusiasm of the southern sun of Spain into the car. "Let's! - says Venga, - Let's go! And I don’t want to deny her this, despite the autumn gloom.

What about ride comfort? KIA engineers took special care of this. Firstly, the car has very good sound insulation. The only sound that could be heard into the cabin was the hum of the winter tires the test car was wearing. Neither the sound of the engine at low and medium speeds, nor the characteristic noise of the street can be heard - this is thanks to the thick glass and insulation of the panels. The suspension of the microvan is tuned to the needs of the average city dweller. On Moscow roads it seemed collected and moderately dense. Potholes and road joints did not make the body shake nervously, but the chassis informs about overcoming speed bumps loudly and loudly, as if complaining. But Venga is not characterized by such a disease of many minivans as vertical sway.

The Venga's 1.6-liter 125-horsepower gasoline engine was combined in our case with a 5-speed manual transmission, and we liked this combination. First of all, because such a machine is extremely balanced. It handles city traffic without any problems and does not require boosting the gas or frequently squeezing the clutch in traffic jams. At the same time, the Venga engine has a very juicy “low end” - the single-cab engine is capable of sharply accelerating from low and medium speeds - for example, to make a rapid “jump” into the next row. At high speeds the car lacks agility a little. Before accelerating, it is better to “tuck” a lower gear in advance.

By the way, changing the gears of the Venga's 5-speed transmission is quite convenient. The switching mechanism is clear and has acceptable selectivity. The gears are quite long and selected in such a way as to save fuel.

If you wish, you can also spur the Venga - to do this you need to maintain high engine speeds. It’s a pity that the compact KIA becomes quite voracious in this situation. Real consumption with deliberately active city driving, it amounted to approximately 12 l/100 km, with the stated 8.4 l/100 km.

The braking dynamics for a car with a curb weight of 1180 kg are quite decent. The drive is informative. Braking is smooth and smooth, just as it should be in a family car. ABS Venga is configured to respond early, but this feature is not at all annoying.

Know your worth

The most affordable KIA Venga will cost the Russian buyer 615 thousand rubles, but this car has a 1.4-liter 90-horsepower engine, manual transmission gears and a minimum of useful options - it is unlikely to be in demand. The role of a family car is still reserved for slightly more richly equipped cars. In our opinion, the 1.6-liter KIA Venga, which is available with both “mechanics” and “automatic”, is more likely to become a bestseller. We tested a car in the top-end Prestige configuration, for which dealers are asking 703 thousand rubles. For the same car with an automatic transmission you will have to pay 739 thousand rubles, which by the standards of the segment is not at all small. However, Venga is not an exception to corporate rules in this sense. After the redesign under the leadership of Peter Schreyer and a radical update of the technical equipment, the entire model range of the brand has become more expensive - just compare the prices for the Sportage of the current and previous generations. Behind the rise in price, however, are the justified ambitions of the Korean brand, which correspond to the growing ambitions of modern buyers.

COMPARE YOURSELF

Parameter/Car

KIA Venga 1.6MT

Ford Fusion 1.6MT

The Kia Venga was designed by European stylists, assembled there - in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and is not offered outside of Europe. The preferences of Korean customers were not taken into account, the main goal was to perfectly meet the needs of Europeans. Did it work? Absolutely yes!

Although Kia classifies the Weng as a representative of the B-class segment, its high body height (1.6 m) allows it to be considered a small minivan. Despite the modest perimeter of the body, we managed to get a truly spacious interior. This is facilitated by a large wheelbase - 2615 mm: more than in the Polo and even in the Golf.

Interestingly, the trunk was not damaged either. Its useful volume exceeds 400 liters. The functionality of the subcompact van increases the possibility of longitudinal displacement (by 130 mm) of the rear sofa with an adjustable backrest angle (standard equipment), as well as a double trunk floor (except for basic versions). By folding the rear seats, you can get a trunk volume of 1253 liters.

At the time of its debut on our market (2010), the base Venga had two airbags (six in the richest configuration). However, air conditioning was not included in the list of standard equipment. There are many differences between the entry-level and rich trim levels.

The presence of climate control means that this is a rich version. But the plastic, regardless of the configuration, is of average quality.

Engines

The range of engines includes petrol and diesel units (the latter are not officially offered in Russia) with a volume of 1.4 and 1.6 liters with a power from 75 to 128 hp.

The Kia Venga is quite dynamic even with a 1.4-liter 90-horsepower gasoline engine. But on the highway, such a car clearly lacks 6th gear. At speeds above 120 km/h the engine becomes unbearably noisy and thirsty for fuel. In a calm driving manner, the engine consumes about 7 liters of gasoline per 100 km.

Sometimes oil leaks are observed at the junction of the engine and gearbox. The crankshaft oil seal is to blame.

In Europe, one of the most popular options on the aftermarket is the 1.4-liter turbodiesel with 75 and 90 hp. The dynamics of both versions in the city are quite sufficient, but on the highway even the most powerful variation does not have enough power reserve. A 90-horsepower diesel engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission consumes less fuel than with a manual transmission. So on the Venga highway with a driver and 4 passengers you can easily keep it to 5 liters. In the city you will need 1.5 liters more. The turbodiesel is quite reliable, including thanks to the unregulated turbine and the absence of a dual-mass flywheel.

Sometimes there are leaks from the injection pump. European dealers offer customers a replacement of the entire pump, the cost of which is almost 40,000 rubles. However, it can be repaired, which is much cheaper.

On the run

Kia Venga starts to get very nervous at high speeds. On transverse irregularities and waves, it bounces like a ball. Drivers who prefer a dynamic driving style complain about the steering, too soft clutch and difficulty quickly engaging third gear, which is sometimes accompanied by a grinding noise.

The suspension is set up quite rigidly. In addition, it handles bumps too loudly, which further reduces the level of comfort.

Short-lived bushings and front stabilizer struts (700 rubles apiece) will require certain expenses.

It is worth noting that the air conditioner is not efficient enough. It takes quite a lot of time for the sun-heated interior to cool down. The lack of an ambient temperature indicator also causes some inconvenience. Parking sensors will be invaluable assistants in the parking lot - poor rear visibility makes maneuvering difficult.

Typical problems and malfunctions

The Kia Venga doesn't have any major reliability issues, but some problems are expensive to fix. For example, when the steering angle sensor stops working, the steering fault warning light comes on - sometimes supplemented by ABS and ESP indicators, and the power steering is turned off. In this case, unfortunately, the entire steering column will need to be replaced, the cost of which exceeds 60,000 rubles. Fortunately, such cases are isolated. If only ESP errors appear in the system, then simply check the electrical connections.

The internal cavities of the thresholds are abundantly waxed, which guarantees long-term protection against corrosion.

Sometimes the creaking of the front panel gets tiring (especially in winter). To eliminate noise, plastic sizing is necessary. Another drawback is the spontaneous reset of the on-board computer’s fuel consumption readings (should be reset immediately after refueling).

Condition of door handles after 100,000 km of intensive use, for example, as a taxi.

Approximate cost of spare parts

Oil filter – 200 rubles.

Air filter – 500 rubles.

Brake pads (front) – 2000 rubles per set.

Brake discs (front) – 3000 rubles for 1 disc.

Rear wheel bearing - about 6,000 rubles (complete with hub).

Front shock absorber - 3000 rubles.

Headlight - 17,000 rubles.

Hood – 26,000 rubles.

Conclusion

The Kia Venga is an interesting model but requires a pre-purchase inspection to ensure there are no costly faults, which unfortunately do sometimes occur.

The first half of 2015 allowed the South Korean company Kia to bring several restyled car models to Russia at once. The not so successful, but still quite interesting and original representative of the company, the KIA Venga, was no exception. It is a typical city car, which has been produced unchanged for more than 4 years, so this restyling came in very handy.

It is worth noting that there is no talk of any generational change, purely restyling changes. The 2016 car does not have dramatic changes, however, they are still present. Despite the fact that the South Korean company is working hard to expand the line of its cars, it does not forget about the old models.

The new product debuted in 2009 during the Frankfurt Motor Show, however, mass production and sales began only in 2010. Due to the fact that the vehicle is designed mainly for European buyers, the power units meet Euro-5 standards. All

Exterior

The design team awarded the updated KIA Venga 2016 with a new distinctive false radiator grille, adjusted headlights, a new front bumper with obvious aerodynamic elements and an enlarged lower air intake, where fog lights with stylish corners were integrated LED lighting for daylight.

The nose part looked as if the car, under its own weight, was spreading along the road section and was about to catch its “lip” on the asphalt.

Generally speaking, the front of the car is stylish and attractive, although everything is very simple. The side of the car was left unchanged; there is still a high roof line, a window sill line that rises sharply to the rear, short front and rear overhangs, and “pumped up” wheel arches.

The updated car has preserved the body's acceptable streamlining, which provides aerodynamic properties unattainable by most rivals. Muscular forms can be noticed, although they are not inherent in cars of this class at all. In general, despite the fact that the car is from Korea, the car does not look like it was made in Asian style.

Perhaps, in part, this is due to European designers who worked to create the image of a compact van. Perhaps this explains the fact that the car is mainly sold to European consumers. Also, the car looks much smaller than it is in reality. Therefore, when you sit behind the steering wheel, you realize how spacious it is.

Interestingly, the KIA Venga 2016 is assembled at a plant located in Slovakia.

The rear part of the Kia Venga 2016 compact van is distinguished by brand new LED marker lights, which are connected by a chrome jumper, as well as a bumper that has slightly changed in shape. In general, these are all the existing changes. Peter Schreyer was able to design an attractive, stylish and original car from the very beginning.

Therefore, sometimes, you just need to make small changes and improvements in appearance to refresh the car, which is what happened with the compact van. It’s hard to say clearly whether the Korean has become better, but it’s worth noting that the car has clearly not become worse.

The company sells the same pretty nice car, with no obvious design flaws, which is ideal for driving in the bustling city. The appearance of a brake light on the spoiler, which was integrated into the roof, improved the rear of the car, and the roof itself could, by the way, become panoramic.

Interior

The interior of the restyled KIA Venga 2016 has a five-seater layout and has acquired improved finishing materials for the seats, front panels and door cards. There is also a stylish center console with a modern air conditioning or climate control settings unit, an advanced multimedia installation with a 7-inch color screen where you can control music, telephone, display an image from the rear camera and the KIA AVN navigation system.

Don't forget about the steering wheel rim heating function. It’s very nice that you can get to any row of Korean seats without any special difficulties, which is achieved with the help of a high roof. The salon itself was able to undergo a good transformation. The plastic has also become much better.

The KIA Venga instrument panel has standard 3-cylinder sensors, white in design, next to which there is an on-board computer. A little to the right of the instrument panel you can see the power unit start button. The seats installed in front have lumbar support, which is a guarantee for the back in terms of painlessly covering long distances.

The driver's seat of the KIA Weng can be adjusted not only longitudinally, but also in height. The steering wheel is duplicated with control buttons for the main services of the car, which includes the on-board computer and audio system. There are also minor flaws, for example, due to the pillars installed in front, visibility is reduced, and also when sitting on a chair, the body position is too vertical, which does not allow you to comfortably enjoy the front seat.

Front seats

On top of that, the manufacturers definitely forgot about the lateral support function, which is very necessary. The interior of the compact van can comfortably accommodate a driver and 4 people. The legroom of passengers sitting in front is 1,080 mm, and in the rear is 901 mm. There is also plenty of free space in width, with 1,388 mm in front and 1,367 mm in the rear.

There will be no discomfort over your head either, because the height on the first row is 1,020 mm, and on the back seat 980 mm. The luggage compartment is not trying to break records, so there is only 440 liters of usable space.

An option is available that can move the rear seats separately by 130 mm, which will make it possible, if necessary, to increase the volume of luggage space to 570 liters, and at the same time the rear passengers will be seated. If there is a need to transport larger cargo, the rear seat backs can be folded, which will result in a flat floor, the length of which is more than 1,550 mm, and the capacity will increase to an acceptable 1,253 liters of free space.

Generally speaking, the interior of the car has not changed since the KIA Venga 2010. The abundance of fairly hard and cheap plastic is noticeable (but it can be “diluted” if you order multi-colored edging for the deflectors and screen as a separate option).

Apart from the unusual “climate wheel surrounded by buttons,” the center console did not receive any design flourishes. Although the top version of the Korean car has a multifunction steering wheel, a full electrical package, a large LCD screen and a rear view camera with parking sensors, Bluetooth, cruise control and more.

It’s nice to see that all the instruments are installed at a special angle in relation to the driver. Thanks to this, the car owner will not be distracted by unimportant processes while moving.

Another good thing is that the seats installed in front received a full-fledged heating function. There is also a position regulator. It is worth saying that restyling was able to improve the interior of the hatchback. The nice thing is that the experts installed the multifunctional steering wheel at the optimal height.

In addition to this, it can be adjusted in two directions. The dashboard, which is located in an easily accessible place for the owner, in the basic version has only a radio and temperature controls.

As a separate option, you can purchase an improved version of the KIA Venga 2016, which will already have a multifunctional navigator and a modern multimedia system with a color screen that supports touch control. However, despite the neat and beautiful interior design, cheap plastic spoils everything.

Specifications

Power unit

This may surprise you, but the technical component of the South Korean compact van KIA Venga 2016 is quite diverse. You can install any of your choice power unit, which functions as diesel fuel, and on gasoline. In addition, any engine meets the strict criteria and standards of Euro 5.

But for the Russian market, there will be two engines. The weakest will be the 1.4-liter gasoline engine, which produces 99 horses. It allows you to reach 100 km/h in 12.8 seconds, and the top speed is 168 km/h. Don't forget that this is not a Formula 1 car.

The second power unit has a volume of 1.6 liters and produces 125 horses. The engine will reach 100 km/h in 11.8 seconds, and maximum speed will be equal to 180 km/h. It also runs on gasoline. It’s a pity, but there is no diesel option for Russians. It’s worth saying right away that in terms of power, the engine data is far from sports and racing.

And this was to be expected, because the Kia Vengo was not created for competition. A nice gift There was an installation of an electronic assistant for a manual transmission, which tells you when it is better to change gear.

In addition to this, there is a Stop and Go system that will stop the engine at idle and start it when you press the clutch. These solutions were made to achieve excellent fuel economy. In combined mode, depending on the power unit, the model will consume about 6-7 liters per 100 km.

If you go on a country road, your gasoline consumption will drop to 3-4 liters for every hundred kilometers. Therefore, having purchased this car, you will not need to frequently visit gas stations.

gasoline RON95

The only pity is that such economical engines are synchronized with an outdated five-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed automatic. However, they function very productively. But for the version with a turbocharged diesel engine, the company has provided a 6-speed automatic transmission. In total, 5 engines were developed for the Korean.

Chassis

The 2017 Kia Venga has an independent McPherson-type spring suspension at the front, where there is a stabilizer bar, and a rear independent wishbone-spring suspension with a stabilizer bar.

As a braking device, the designers provided disc mechanisms on all wheels, and they are ventilated in front. You can drive the car using an electric booster. All torque is transmitted exclusively to the front wheels.

Dimensions

It is worth addressing the issue of the size of this car. It measures 4,075 mm in length, 1,765 mm in width, and a wheelbase height of 2,615 mm. Height ground clearance at 156 mm. If you install 15-inch wheels, the front track will be 1,553 mm, and the rear will be 1,557 mm. The 16-inch version will look like this, the front track will be 1,547 mm, and the rear will be 1,551 mm.

The consumer will be able to choose from a palette of 10 enamel colors for car body painting: white, 3 shades of silver (Sirius, Machine and Pegasus), two options of blue (Space and Planet), red, sand, dark metal and black.

Speaking of wheels, they come in steel, 15-inch diagonal with decorative caps, or 16-inch light alloy. As a separate option, you can buy light alloy rollers designed for 17 inches.

Safety

The Kia Venga 2016 is equipped with a productive protection system. This car has all the required active safety features. Thanks to the anti-lock brake system (ABS), it is possible to combat skidding, brake assist (BAS), and improves sufficient braking force in unexpected situations.

There is an exchange rate stability system (ESC), which automatically brakes individual wheels, thereby compensating for excessive or insufficient maneuvering of the vehicle. The system can still regulate the engine power until control of the car is completely restored.

The Hill Start Assist (HAL) function works, which helps to avoid problems when the car starts from a standstill on an uphill slope. The company has done a good job of providing excellent impact protection through high body rigidity and thoughtful placement of deformation points. In the event of a collision, it is they who take on the full force of the impact, softening the collision to the maximum.

There is a whole list of passive safety features, which includes the presence of six airbags (a pair of front, front side and curtain airbags along the entire length of the cabin, which protect all passengers). The front seats have active head restraints that help prevent head injuries in rear collisions. All five seats have three-point seat belts.

Security systems include the presence of:

Passive safety includes:

  • Frontal airbags.

Active safety and suspension include:

  • Anti-lock braking system;
  • A system that warns of emergency braking;
  • A system that assists with emergency braking.

Crash test

As has already become clear, the microvan has excellent passive safety. Back in 2010, the car underwent Euro-NCAP tests, which allowed the car to score the required 70 points to receive 5 stars. However, already in 2010, the commission's standards were tightened in terms of safety, so the compact car scored only 4 stars.

But a year later, the company’s engineering staff was able to improve these results, which affected the level of safety of an adult passenger and a child. The Kia Venga again passed the same crash test, but has already improved its safety factor for an adult passenger and a child from 79 to 89 percent and from 66 to 85 percent, respectively. Therefore, when buying this car, you should not worry too much - the car is officially safe.

For the Kia Veng driver, it is no secret that the indicator on the dashboard is “Check-Engene” is a Kia malfunction signal. In normal condition, this icon should light up when the ignition is turned on; at this moment, a check of all Kia Venga systems begins; in a working car, the indicator goes out after a few seconds.

If there is something wrong with the Kia Venga, then “Check-Engene” does not go out, or lights up again after a while. It may also blink, which clearly indicates a serious malfunction. This indicator will not tell the Kia owner what exactly the problem is; it draws attention to the fact that diagnostics of the Kia Venga engine is required.

Since all foreign cars, not excluding the Kia Venga, are tightly tied to electronics, A huge number of sensors monitor the operation of the car. Therefore, diagnosing the Kia Venga engine is, by and large, checking the most important component of the car, with the exception of the suspension, which is checked mechanically.

Exists a large number of specialized equipment for Kia Venga engine diagnostics. There are compact and fairly universal scanners that not only professionals can afford. But there are cases when conventional portable scanners do not detect malfunctions in the Kia Venga engine, then diagnostics must be carried out exclusively by licensed software and a scanner from Kia.

Kia diagnostic scanner shows:

  • Throttle valve opening value in percentage;
  • Engine speed in rpm;
  • Kia Venga engine temperature;
  • Voltage in the on-board network of Kia Venga;
  • Temperature of air sucked into the engine;
  • Ignition timing of Kia Venga;
  • Fuel injection time by injector. Displayed in milliseconds;
  • Kia Venga air flow sensor readings;
  • Kia Venga oxygen sensor readings;
Before diagnosing the Kia Venga engine, you should listen to it; in normal condition, it works quietly, monotonously, and confidently holds speed. When you press the gas pedal, it picks up speed smoothly, without jerking, without any extraneous sounds. The exhaust is practically invisible. Also in a normal Kia Venga engine it cannot be increased consumption fuel and other liquids.

1. To diagnose the Kia Venga engine, first of all, the engine compartment is inspected visually. A serviceable engine should not have any leaks of technical fluids, be it oil, coolant, or brake fluid. In general, it is important to periodically clean the Kia Venga engine from dust, sand, dirt; this is necessary not only for aesthetics, but also for normal heat dissipation!

2. Checking the level and condition of the oil in the Kia Venga engine, the second step of testing. To do this, you need to pull out the dipstick and also look at the oil by unscrewing the filler cap. If the oil is black, or even worse, black and thick, then this indicates that the oil has been changed a long time ago.

If there is a white emulsion on the filler cap or you can see the oil foaming, this may indicate that water or coolant has entered the oil.

3. Checking the spark plugs of the Kia Venga. Remove all spark plugs from the engine; they can be checked one at a time. They must be dry. If the candles are covered with a slight layer of yellowish or light brown soot, then there is no need to worry, such soot is a completely normal and acceptable phenomenon and does not affect operation.

If there are traces of liquid oil on the Kia Venga spark plugs, then most likely the piston rings or valve stem seals will need to be replaced. Black carbon deposits indicate an over-rich fuel mixture. The reason is the Kia fuel system is not working properly, or the air filter is too clogged. The main symptom will be increased fuel consumption.

Red deposits on Kia Venga spark plugs are formed due to low-quality gasoline, which contains a large number of metal particles (for example, manganese, which increases the octane number of the fuel). Such plaque conducts current well, which means that with a significant layer of this plaque, the current will flow through it without forming a spark.

4. The Kia Venga ignition coil does not fail often, Most often this happens due to old age, the insulation is damaged and a short circuit occurs. It is better to change the coils in accordance with the mileage according to the regulations. But sometimes breakdowns are caused by bad spark plugs or broken high-voltage wires. To check the Kia coil, it must be removed.

After removal, you need to make sure that the insulation is intact; there should be no black spots or cracks. Next, a multimeter should be used; if the coil is burnt out, then the device will show the maximum possible meaning. You should not check the Kia Venga coil using the old-fashioned method for the presence of a spark between the spark plugs and the metal part of the car. This method occurs in old cars, while on the Kia Venga, due to such manipulations, not only the coil can burn out, but also the entire electrics of the car.

5. Is it possible to diagnose an engine malfunction by smoke from the exhaust pipe of a Kia Venga? The exhaust can tell a lot about the condition of the engine. In the warm season, no thick or bluish smoke should be visible from a serviceable vehicle.

If white smoke is visible, this may indicate a burnt gasket or a leak in the Kia Venga cooling system. If the smoke is black, then best case scenario These are problems due to an over-enriched fuel mixture. At worst, there are problems with the piston group.

If the smoke has a bluish tint, this indicates that the Kia Venga engine is consuming oil. At best, the valve stem seals will need to be replaced, at worst, the piston group will need to be repaired. All this fumes greatly clogs and reduces the life of the Kia Venga catalyst, which cannot cope with cleaning such impurities.

6. Diagnosis of the Kia Venga engine by sound. Sound is a gap, that’s what the theory of mechanics says. There are gaps in almost all moving joints. In this small gap there is an oil film that prevents the parts from touching. But over time, the gap expands, the oil film can no longer be distributed evenly, friction occurs between the parts of the Kia Venga engine, as a result of which very intense wear begins.

Each component in the Kia Venga engine has a specific sound:

  • A loud, frequent sound heard at all engine speeds indicates the need to adjust the valves;
  • An even knock, which does not depend on the speed, is caused by the valve-distribution mechanism, which indicates wear of its elements;
  • A distinct short knock, increasing at higher speeds, warns of the imminent end of the connecting rod bearing.
This is just a small part possible sounds as a result of certain malfunctions. Every Kia driver must remember the sound of a normally running engine in order to quickly respond to any changes in it.

7. Diagnostics of the Kia Venga engine cooling system. With proper operation of the cooling system and sufficient heat dissipation, after the engine starts, the liquid circulates only in a small circle through the heater radiator, which contributes to the rapid warming up of both the engine itself and the Kia Venga interior in the cold season.

When the normal operating temperature of the Kia Venga engine is reached (about 60-80 degrees), the valve opens slightly, i.e. the liquid partially flows into the radiator, where it releases heat through it. If the critical point of 100 degrees is reached, the Kia Venga thermostat opens all the way, and the entire volume of liquid passes through the radiator.

At the same time, the Kia Venga radiator fan turns on, it helps to better blow hot air between the radiator cells. Overheating can damage the engine and require expensive repairs.

8. Typical malfunctions of the Kia Venga cooling system. If the fan does not work when the critical temperature is reached, then first of all you need to check the fuse, then inspect the Kia Venga fan itself and the integrity of the wires to it. But the problem may turn out to be more global; the temperature sensor (thermostat) may have failed.

The functionality of the Kia Venga thermostat is checked as follows: pre-warm up the engine, put your hand on the bottom of the thermostat, if it is hot, it means it is working.

More serious problems may also arise: the pump fails, the Kia Venga radiator leaks or becomes clogged, or the valve in the filler cap breaks. If problems arise after replacing the coolant, then most likely an air lock is to blame.
