Today we will prepare a simple and incredibly tasty warm appetizer - lavash rolls with cheese, fried in a frying pan. They taste like small khachapuriki soaked in sour cream and melted cheese.

I add a little garlic and finely chopped garlic to the sour cream sauce for soaking.fresh dill, which makes the dish even more delicious. But the original recipe does not contain these additives, so decide for yourself which option is best for you.

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of wheat roll or 2 thin Armenian lavash
  • small jar of sour cream (180-200 g)
  • 1-2 cloves of garlic
  • several sprigs of dill
  • 200 g cheese
  • salt to taste

Preparation:

To make rolls, I usually buy a wheat roll rolled into a thin tube. It is perfectly suited for this purpose. But if you don’t sell such a roll, thin Armenian lavash is also perfect.

This is what an unfolded roll looks like, folded in half:

Its width is approximately 35 cm, and its length when folded in half is about 47 cm.

Wash the dill sprigs, dry them and chop them finely.

Place the sour cream in a bowl, add dill and, to taste, 1-2 cloves of garlic, passed through a press. Lightly add salt and mix. The sour cream sauce for lavash rolls is ready.

Grease half a roll or one sheet of Armenian sour cream sauce with greens.

On top of the pita bread, on a coarse grater, grate half the cheese.

Fold the roll in half, or, if preparing with pita bread, cover with a second sheet.

And again, first grease the sheet with sour cream sauce, then top with the remaining cheese.

Now we roll the pita bread into a tight roll, it should look something like this:

We wrap the resulting roll in a bag or film and put it in the refrigerator, preferably for 2-3 hours, so that it is properly soaked. I usually make it in the evening, it takes no more than 20 minutes, and it sits in the refrigerator overnight. And in the morning before breakfast, I take it out and cut it into small pieces no more than 1.5-2 cm wide.

I fry the pieces in vegetable oil, always in a Teflon frying pan. Once I tried frying it in a cast iron frying pan, which I usually use to bake pancakes. They stuck tightly.

The rolls are fried very quickly, they turn out beautiful, aromatic, with melted cheese inside.

Straight from the pan with sweet tea or coffee, it’s simply delicious! No matter how much you fry, you always want more.

A hot snack of pita bread with different fillings can be prepared in the microwave, oven, or on the grill.

You don’t have to buy lightly salted salmon with red caviar for your holiday table. It is enough to have simple ingredients to cook, for example, pita bread with cheese and herbs in a frying pan, and even without oil.

Using Armenian bread in cooking gives quick results.

Thin flatbread snacks are not only beautiful, but they also give the impression of a composition that took a lot of time to create.
